Custom Shade Matching
In order to maximize esthetic results in the anterior, Nakanishi Dental Laboratory provides a two part customized shade service. Proper shade matching frequently requires both a custom shade selection (Part ONE) and also Custom Staining (Part TWO) in our laboratory.
Part ONE - Custom Shade Matching
Initial photo survey and digital shade selection with a Nakanishi shade specialist. This photographic session takes approximately 15 minutes and is done at our laboratory. Custom Shade appointments may be scheduled during the following times.
Monday – 8:00am – 10:30am
Tuesday - 10:00am – 10:30am
Wednesday - 10:00am – 10:30am
Thursday - 10:00am – 10:30am
Friday - 8:00am – 10:30am
IMPORTANT:
- Patients’ teeth should be properly hydrated for the best results. It is important to avoid scheduling a custom shade immediately following a clinical appointment.
- Patients should complete any bleaching procedures at least two weeks prior to being evaluated for a custom shade.
- A Custom Staining appointment may be required for optimal final results.
Part TWO - Custom Staining
Occasionally, after the crown is completed using our Custom Shade process, esthetics can be further improved utilizing Custom Staining. This is necessary in approximately 5-10% of Custom Shade cases. This appointment is more involved than the Custom Shade appointment and requires the crown to be removed and tried in. In some cases, this may require multiple try-ins to optimize esthetic results. This appointment is approximately 45 minutes. Custom Staining is by appointment only and requires advanced notice to ensure a technician is available to assist you. Custom Staining appointments may be scheduled during the following times.
Monday – 11:00am or 1:00pm
Tuesday - 11:00am or 1:00pm
Wednesday - 11:00am or 1:00pm
Thursday - 11:00am or 1:00pm
Friday - 11:00am or 1:00pm
IMPORTANT:
- We cannot remove crowns of any kind, and the patient must be willing and able to remove and replace their own crowns during this process. The patient must return to the dental office to have the final crown permanently placed after completion of the Custom Staining appointment.
